AXE is the name of the digital switching system of Ericsson. This is a complex environment with high demands of reliability. All data processing is done in real time realised with object oriented methods. | ![]() |
I was responsible for the planning of the activities for the members. It meant
procurement of assignments for every division member corresponding to
his/her experiences and qualifications. To be able to find suitable task for
everyone, I had to negotiate with different companies, e.g. both L.M.
Ericsson in Stockholm and its affiliated companies in other countries.
See an article about the co-operation
here (Swedish only).
It was even part of my responsibility to make possible the quantitative expansion of the division, at the same time as the division members had a noticeable development of their technical knowledges.
In 1998 I organized the production of a brochure for the AXE-area in the Frontec group. The text of the brochure was written by me in Swedish - translated by a professional translator to English -, the design of the brochure was performed by an authorized design center.
I had the opportunity to investigate the possibility of using / working with the newest technical solution of the telecommunication system, the IP-telephony, in my division.
I was responsible for setting of wage for the division members.
I was also member of the management group of the companies.
The result of the education program had been excellent. 13 of 14 students got full time job after the course, from which 7 persons were employed at our company in my division.
The project members were from two different places in Sweden, from Stockholm and from Pajala (north of Sweden). I had to organise the co-operation between these people. Furthermore I had to co-operate with the other subsystem leaders, sitting in about 10 different countries, at meetings and via telephone and electronic mail.
The task of teaching newly examined people at the same time as they even were performing useful work was totally new for me. It was a one year demanding experience and the method of this new kind of teaching was developed by me.
During this time I - together with my "students" - was working with different subscriber services within the telephony exchange, as "Call Line Identity Presentation", "Number Presentation", "User to User presentation", and so on. I also had worked with ISDN, SS7/ISUP and TUP signaling.
I even worked with several projects / other systems outside of Ericsson. I had tasks both with development and programming in the language C as use of Informix-SQL database.
During these years I spent a total of about 10 months in Paris, France at one of the affiliated companies of Ericsson.
